Today we have a guest blog from Valerya Aranovic, who tells us about her passion for design and why she loves to use Astute Graphics plug-ins in the creative process.
Hi! My name is Valerya Aranovich and I'm 24 years old. I started drawing at an early age and literally grew up with a pencil in my hand. My strong passion for art and design has led to an Architecture Major at university. In 2016, after graduation, I moved to the US. At that time, I had discovered Adobe Illustrator and started to create vector graphics inspired by architecture around me and in my studies.
In my illustrations I like to simplify the complexity of beautiful buildings in a minimalistic way by using basic shapes, elegant lines, shading, halftones and simplistic colours. There are a lot of beautiful buildings around us that remain unnoticed, so I like to make them visually interesting and attractive with Adobe Illustrator.
After being discovered by Astute Graphics on Behance and invited to create something for them, I decided to create a collective scenery of my favourite city and current home – San Francisco. This city; it's architecture, and it's people and mood inspires me greatly.
It was a big pleasure working on this illustration of well-known, iconic objects, and thanks to Astute Graphics' plug-ins the process was smooth, fast and simple.
VectorScribe is the most helpful plug-in I have ever used. Firstly, it is a logical extension of Illustrator's abilities. Secondly, it saves a lot of time. It gave me so much more control over the pen tool allowing me to create the detail with greater perfection and being able to adjust anything with greater ease afterwards.
I create my art with shapes and lines to get the foundation of the image before adding colour and a little depth. I like to use minimal flat colour to highlight the shape and style of my images, usually only 2-3 colours at any time.
I then also use the Stipplism plug-in, which helps me to add some subtle shading and volume, giving it some interest and a modern look to my illustration. I love stippling techniques so much, but I would never dare to try using them native in Illustrator. The Stipplism plug-in has made my dreams come true. I have been searching for a plug-in like this for a long time and now I've found it! It's quality and realistic look is mind blowing.
Once I have completed the main parts of the illustration and added the colours and shading, I then begin to add small details (text and signs etc) to give it the final touch. Using Astute Graphics plug-ins has made my process more creative and has allowed me to have some fun and be more expressive in the details, plus it's taking me less time to complete.
Thank you, Astute Graphics for your great work!
