Change of billing provider and invoicing

3 minute read • Last updated 2023-06-09

From 3 July 2022, a transition period of up to one month commenced whilst the subscription service billing provider and merchant of record (MoR) is changed.

Astute Graphics currently processes annual payments directly via Stripe and PayPal. In order to extend our service payment options, plus fully comply with evolving local purchase tax legislation, Paddle will help Astute Graphics start to collect and remit sales tax in additional jurisdictions where applicable. Paddle is a secure billing provider who, in turn, also uses established and reputable payment providers.

What does this mean for you?

  1. Your payment and invoice will be issued by Paddle who will be the Merchant of Record. You will see Paddle referenced on future invoices, and your credit card statements will now read: Paddle.net*ASTUTEGRAP. In all other respects, this change will be invisible to you.

  2. Localized purchase tax law changes mean that additional tax charges may be applied to your annual plan fee if you reside in a country or state on this list, and we were previously unable to collect sales tax in your jurisdiction. Neither Paddle nor Astute Graphics benefit financially from collecting these taxes.

  3. Even though Paddle provides the invoice and will be the legal entity for tax and accounting purposes, Astute Graphics will continue to be your primary contact for all support issues.

If you have a VAT (or any other form of sales tax) ID, or a Sales Tax Exemption Certificate (US customers) then please email valid documentation to assist@paddle.com, so Paddle can arrange for sales tax to be deducted from all future billings.

Note for UK VAT-registered customers: since Paddle is a UK company, you will need to claim back the VAT as part of your VAT return. Paddle's UK VAT ID is: GB150848114.

These changes will be taking place in a managed, staged process throughout July 2022. All customers will see their order and renewals are processed by Paddle from August 2022 onwards.

Every care has been taken to ensure minimal disruption to customers and keep things as transparent as possible through this change, including payment of renewals and access to the service. However, if you do experience any issues, please do not hesitate to contact us, and we'll work as quickly as possible to resolve things.
